Abstract The purpose of the present study was to investigate to what extent the proposed training program on preparing and implementing curriculum maps was effective in developing in-service EFL preparatory stage teachers’ teaching skills as well as their self-efficacy. The researcher adopted the quasi- experimental design using one group. Data was collected from using a teaching knowledge test, an observation checklist, a self-efficacy scale, and a curriculum map rubric. The participants of the study were seventeen EFL in-service teachers in Dr. Ahmed Zewail preparatory school for girls in Mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate. The results of the study indicated that the proposed training program was effective in developing EFL teachers’ teaching knowledge and skills, as well as their sense of self-efficacy. The teachers participated in this study perceived the curriculum map as a useful and beneficial tool in identifying the gaps and redundancies in the curriculum. |
