Abstract

The current study aimed at investigating the use of a Proposed Electronic Information Seeking Model (PEISM) to develop secondary stage students’ EFL critical reading and writing skills. For this purpose, (80) Egyptian participants at the secondary school level were selected and assigned to an experimental group and a control group. Each group encompassed (40) students. Quantitative analyses of students’ performance revealed statistically significant differences between the mean score of the experimental group and those of the control group on the post- administration of the critical reading and writing skills tests favoring the experimental group and statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group pre- and post- administration of the critical reading and writing skills tests favoring the post- administration. Besides, the qualitative analysis of results supported the significant impact of the PEISM on developing secondary stage students’ EFL critical reading and writing skills as students’ answers on the PEISM were analyzed at the beginning, middle and end of the experimentation and the gradual progression achieved was remarkably critical writing skills observable.
