Abstract This study was carried out during two successive winter seasons of 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 to study the effect of two planting patterns, five weed control treatments and three planting spaces on weed characters and growth, yield and its components as well as quality of sugar beet. The results showed that, planting patterns, weed control treatments and planting spaces had significant effect on most cases at different ages in both seasons on weed characters, growth , yield and yield components and yield quality traits. On the other hand the first and second order of interaction had significant effect at different ages in both seasons on most of weed characters, yield and yield components and yield quality traits. In general, Planting sugar beet on ridges, 55cm. at 20 cm. between hills and using Harness followed by hand hoeing is recommended to maximize the productivity and quality of sugar beet. |
