Abstract

Bovine respiratory disease is one of the most important diseases that harmfully affect the economic aspect for calves industry in Egypt and world wide. Few tools are used for early diagnosis of BRD. Therefore, this study was planned to evaluate a new strategy for diagnosis of BRD. For that purpose, this study was conducted on a systematic review in addition to two survey studies. 1- Systematic review:-
A systematic review was performed for BRD diagnostic accuracy. This review used for BRD diagnosis and based on the clinical findings, complete blood count, analysis of some serum parameters (total protein, albumin, globulin and acute phase protein as Hp, SAA, Fb and C-reactive protein) also ultrasonographic and endoscopic examination, depending on the result of this review, Hp was the most prominent APP, showed high accuracy in different diagnostic stages in all studies.
2- Field studies (two surveys) the 1st was in Egypt and the 2nd conducted in Canada.
2.1. The first study was conducted on 30 calves at Elsalhia dairy farm in Egypt, clinical examination of animals done using the calf respiratory score, lung auscultation using the conventional stethoscope, blood samples were collected and serum separated for APP analysis also calves examined ultrasonographically and the result showed that :-
1-there were low Se and high Sp recorded for CRSC in the diagnosis of such disease, for lung auscultation, perfect Se and low Sp were found.
