Abstract
This study was carried out at clinical oncology department, Tanta university hospital, and included 40 patients who presented with squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck with different disease stages and subjected for radiotherapy alone or combined radiotherapy and systemic chemotherapy through-out the period from September 2014 to October 2015. Patients Eligible to enter this study includes those with: - Histopathologically proved to be head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. - performance ECOG (0_1). - No prior radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Clinical data were analyzed for all patients regarding, age, sex, clinical performance status, smoking status, pathological types, stage of the disease, and loco-regional radiotherapy with or without systemic chemotherapy received response after treatment, oral mucositis signs and symptoms (pain, ability to drink and eat as well as the presence of lesions like ulcers, erythema).
