المستخلص This study is interested in the reality of high school libraries in the province of Babylon, from various aspects, which include the building and the location, equipment, furniture, office groups, librarians qualifications, organization and technical procedures, office services, budget, and identifying the extent of using modern technologies and the resulting pros and cons that work on the advancement of the these libraries. The study included learning about the history of education in Iraq in terms of origination and incorporation, as well as knowledge of the physical and human resources of these libraries, in addition to the identification of the size of library groups at schools under study, and methods they are selected and evaluated, and become acquainted with the technical processes and procedures for books and services provided. The study used the descriptive analytical approach to describe the current status of high school libraries in the province of Babylon (21 libraries), study tools such as the questionnaire, checklist, personal interview, observations and field visits were used. Data were scheduled and statistically processed, and results were as follows : 1/ Non-conformity of space and equipment of high school libraries in the province of Babylon with the required Arab and world standards. 2/ Most libraries suffer from lack of specialist career staff qualified in the field of libraries and Information science.3/ Most libraries lack furniture and equipment, and the existing is not compatible with the international standards. 4/ Lack of adequate and independent budget. |
