Abstract

In conclusion, the EDTA as chemical compound has been widely used in different daily life needs. According the experimental design, semen analysis, hormonal analysis and morphological examination have been applied for all tested groups as well as control group. The results of the present study show that even both body weight and the food consumed quantity by mice have a significant positive correlation with both the dose and duration of EDTA manipulation, semen analysis revealed a significant inverse correlation between the dose of EDTA manipulation and sperm qualities, count and motilities with both dose and duration of EDTA manipulation. Hormonal analysis shows an increase in testosterone, T3 and T4 hormones, and these shows that the effects of thyroid hormonal on spermatogenesis lay through the mechanism of hyperthyroidism. Morphological examination shows significant severe pathological changes both in testis and thyroid. These changes shows deterioration in all the testes cells like seminiferous tubules, increase in non- active and decrease in active tubules as well as decrease in primary spermatocytes cells. All these changes were a dose response with EDTA manipulation. The study was the first to document the harmful effect of EDTA manipulation on the spermatogenesis process in mice.
