Abstract

The present study was carried out during three successive seasons of 2013, 2014 and 2015 on ten uniform palms each of Zaghlou, Samany and Seewy date palms (Phoenix dactylifera L.). The palms were grown in the Experimental Orchard of the Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt, where the soil has a clay texture and with water table depth not less than two meters.
This study included three experiments:
1- The first experiment was carried out on (Zaghloul and Seewy cvs). It included the following nine treatments of two macronutrients (N and K) and frequencies (twice) of spraying including the control treatment. Thus, the nine treatments are as follows:
T1: Spraying bunches with water (control).
T2: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with urea (0.5%).
T3: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with urea (1%).
T4: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with potassium citrate (2%).
T5: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with potassium citrate (4%).
T6: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with urea (0.25 %) plus potassium citrate (1%).
T7: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with urea (0.5%) plus potassium citrate (1%).
T8: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with urea (0.25%) plus potassium citrate (2%).
T9: Spraying bunches twice after two and four weeks of pollination with urea (0.5%) plus potassium citrate (2%).
2- The second experiment was carried out on Samany and Seewy whereas, it included nine treatments with different concentration of gibberellic acid (GA3) and sitofex (CPPU, chloropyridylphenylurea) Thus, the nine treatments are as follows:
T1: Spraying bunches with distilled water (control).
T2: Spraying bunches twice with GA3, once at 50 ppm after two weeks of pollination and again at, 100 ppm after 8 weeks of pollination.
T3: Spraying bunches twice with GA3, once at 50 ppm after two weeks of pollination and again at 150 ppm after 8 weeks of pollination.
T4: Spraying bunches twice with 50 ppm GA3 after two weeks of pollination and 15 ppm CPPU after 8 weeks of pollination.
T5: Spraying bunches twice with 50 ppm GA3 after two weeks of pollination and 30 ppm CPPU after 8 weeks of pollination.
T6: Spraying bunches twice with GA3, once at 50 ppm after two weeks from pollination and again with (50 ppm GA3 plus 7.5 ppm CPPU) after 8 weeks of pollination.
T7: Spraying bunches twice with GA3, once at 50 ppm after two weeks from pollination and again with (50 ppm GA3 plus 15 ppm CPPU) after 8 weeks of pollination.
T8: Spraying bunches twice with GA3, once at 50 ppm after two weeks from pollination and again with (75 ppm GA3 plus 7.5 p
