Abstract
present work dealt with the morphological and the taxonomic
studies of the family Nemestrinidae (Diptera: Brachycera) from Egypt.
* Morphology:A morphological study of Nemestrinus aegyptiacus
(Wiedemann, 1928) using as a standard model showing the diagnostic
characters of the family Nemestrinidae such as: abdominal color, wing
venation.
All important morphological terms are discussed and a uniform
terminology is elaborated for use in key and descriptions.
The significance morphological characters that separate the species are
design of abdominal patterns, wing venation and presence or absence
bands or shining spots on the frons. Special attention should be paid to
the male and female genitalia as important specific characters.
