Abstract

A literature survey on transition metal complexes of hydrazones was made, the interest in the study of hydrazones and their metal complexes was mainly due to their biological activities. Also, some of analytical applications like PH-metric technique. Moreover, potentiometric technique and biological activity as antimicrobial, antifungal were carried out. The compounds were screened for their DNA-binding affinity assay. In general, three types of solid complexes were isolated in which the ligand behaved in neutral, mononegative and /or binegative manner. The electronic spectra and magnetic measurements for the isolated complexes indicated that all complexes had octahedral structure. Computational studies for all compounds were carried out to confirm the geometry of the isolated complexes. Thermal decomposition of some solid complexes under an atmosphere of nitrogen was investigated. Moreover, biological activity (Antifungal and antimicrobial) for the ligand and its metal complexes under investigation were carried out. The MIC values showed that Hg(II) and Cd(П) complexes (Figure 38-43) have higher antibacterial activity against E. coli than L2H and other complexes, while Co(II) has no effect on it. Finally, pH- metric studies in DMSO- water solution on the investigated ligand and its Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes.
