The essential oils in Origanum have been used for long years as a local medicine in case of stomachic, carminative, diuretic, urinary disinfectant in addition to kidney problems such as renal stones. These essential oils are also used as rich flavors with effective properties for food and nutritional products with special reference to supplements for the aged people .Additionally, some Origanum species are used for their antifungal anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, immune stimulant, , anti-cancer, , anti-parasitic, insecticidal, nematicidal, molluscicidal activities in addition to the anti-microbial potentiality which is of special interest. Adding to that Origanum species are used in perfumes and in scenting soaps. So,protecting such important medicinal plant from extinction through improving the cultivation of it and enhancing its growth, metabolism and essential oil production through using its associated plant growth promoting bacteria was the aim of this study.
