Abstract

Expansive soils refer to a particular type of soils that expand as they absorb water and shrink when they dry out.In this research, we study making a stabilization of this type of soil using three different additives which are (Addicrete P), (Addibond 65) and (Glass fibers). Results showed that there is a tendency of the soil to be stabilized by additives.
Then, “Plaxis” software was used to study soil behavior under a system of applied load in a certain model before and after mixing the soil with additives. Results showed that mixing natural soil with Additives resulted in eliminating vertical and horizontal displacements of the studied models.
Finally, an optimization was done using Genetic Algorithm technique in order to make a prediction for soil behavior. The “Evolver” software was used to process the Genetic Algorithm models. Optimization minimized the difference between experimental and predicted values of California bearing ratio to a value less than 1×10-5.
