Abstract

1:- Introduction: High strength self-compacting fibrous concrete is a new type of concrete that combines features of self-compacting concrete, high strength concrete, and fibrous concrete. Self-compacting concrete that can flow under its own weight and completely fill the formwork, without the need of any vibration, while maintaining homogeneity. Self-compacting concrete is characterised by high workability while high strength concrete is characterised by high compressive strength, but it is a brittle material. Fibers are added to improve durability and toughness and to change the mechanism of concrete failure from brittle failure to ductility failure. By using available materials in Egypt, a composite concrete was produced which has the properties of high strength self-compacting fibrous concrete, fibrous concrete, and high strength concrete. 2: - Research scope: - The scope of this research included an examination of the effect of addition different types of fibers on high strength self-compacting concrete. 3:- Research Objective: - The objectives of the research work to study the effect of adding different type of fibers (steel fibers, glass fibers, polypropylene fibers and hybrid fibers) properties (compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and bending strength. 4:- Steps Study: - To achieve the goals of the study six samples were designed and produced which contain different types and proportions of fibers in addition to the reference sample without fibers M₀, steel fibers used in M₁ and M₂ at 0.4% and 0.8% volume percentage, polypropylene fibers were used in M₃ and M₄ at percentages 0.05% and 0.1% ,and a mixture of steel fibers and polypropylene at percentage 0.6% steel + 0.03% polypropylene and 0.3%steel + 0.06% polypropylene used in the samples M₅ and M₆. The fresh properties (filling ability, passing ability and segregation resistance) measured by using slump flow, T₅₀₀mm, L-Box and GTM screen stability. The hardened properties measured by the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and bending strength 5: - Summary of Study:- The results showed that adding fibers reduces the workability generally, the hardened properties of the concrete revealed slightly increase in compressive strength, while there marked increase in the splitting tensile strength and bending strength. Found that the addition of fibers has changed the mechanism of failure of the concrete from sudden brittle failure to gradual ductility failure.
