Abstract The modern oncoplastic breast surgery combines principles of oncologic and plastic surgery techniques to obtain an oncologically sound and aesthetically pleasing results. The primary advantage of oncoplastic breast surgery is the increased distance of the resection margin and the improved cosmetic outcome. Large sized and or ptotic breasts are at risk of receiving non-homogenous radiation dosage and at an increased risk of postoperative and long-term cosmetic complications. Therapeutic reduction mammoplasty (TRM) involves resection of the tumor and remodeling of the remaining breast tissues using an aesthetic breast reduction technique. TRM and or reduction mastopexy in combination with BCS in moderate, large and or ptotic breasts allows the performance of more wide resections with good oncological control and a favorable aesthetic outcome |
