Abstract

Objectives: In the present study, two main experiments (1st and 2nd experiments) were conducted to investigate the effects of natural, artificial foods or mixed between them at rate (1:1), or the effects of some commercial feed additives (Seleno Source AF 2000® and Nuvisol Hatch P®) on condition factor, organs indices (GSI and HSI), the physiological responses, biochemical and reproductive efficiency parameters, besides the histological structures of the gonads and the liver of European Sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) brood stock. Methods & Results: The present study was performed throughout the period from 20th September of 2013 to 31th March of 2014. Two main experiments (1st and 2nd experiments) were conducted to investigate the effects of natural, artificial foods or mixed between them at rate (1:1), or the effects of some commercial feed additives (Seleno Source AF 2000® and Nuvisol Hatch P®) on condition factor, organs indices (GSI and HSI), the physiological responses, biochemical and reproductive efficiency parameters, besides the histological structures of the gonads and the liver of European Sea bass D. labrax brood stock. The obtained results in the present study revealed that European Sea bass females and males fed the artificial diet in 1st experiment or Sea bass female fed the artificial diet supplemented with 0.5 g SelenoSource AF 2000®/ Kg diet (T3) in 2nd experiment potentially improved the biological, physiological parameters and reproductive performance parameters, and anatomical and histological characteristics, besides it achieved the highest productivity, revenue, and consequently the highest net profit of European Sea bass (D. labrax) brood stock compared to other dietary treatments. Conclusion: It could be concluded the useful and economically using of the artificial diet only or supplemented with 0.5 g SelenoSource AF 2000®/ Kg diet (as a new commercial feed additive) for seriously improved the reproductive performance, and in addition to increase the economic efficiency of the European Sea bass (D. labrax) brood stock.Yet, more research attempts must be conducted by using one or more different strategies such as feeding regimes, hormonal treatments, sex stimulating agents (natural or synthetics), environmental conditions, and bio or -nano technology systems for enhancement the reproductive performance not only for European Sea bass (D. labrax) brood stock, but also for other economic marine fish species.
