This Study Aims To Revealing the relationship between irrational ideas & psychological stresses in university students of both Genders (Male & Female).Sample of survey study:-
The sample of the present study included 200 students of the 4th class in faculty of Arts- Benha university.
Methods of study:-1-Beliefs measure. (by alberr Elis- translated by: Soliman Elrehany 1985).2-Irrational beliefs acquisition measure (by: Zakaria Elsherbiny 2005) 3-Psychological stress measure (by: Nabil El Dokhan & Beshir Elhagar 2006).Results of the study:-
1.There is a statistically significant association between irrational ideas & psychological stresses among university students.2.There is a statistically significant difference between the means of male & female university students in irrational ideas and the difference was towards male in the following aspects: Personal Perfection, self and others over blaming, predicting catastrophe.
3.There is a statistically significant difference between the means of university students with humanities & foreign specialties in irrational ideas and the difference was towards humanities subspecialties.
4.The means of university students differ regarding sources of acquisition of irrational ideas and the most frequent was the mother (18%) followed by the father (16%) then I can’t decide (12%), mass media(5%), university(4% and the least was the relatives (2%).5. in frequency between university students and they were relatively arranged according to the measure as the following: Firstly, family stress (82.06%), personal stress (79.77%), social stress (79.37%), financial stress (75.88%), university stress (72.18%) then study stress (71.75%). So the study hypothesis was verified in the order of types of psychological stress among university students.
6.There is a statistically significant difference between the means of male & female university students in psychological stresses and the difference was towards male.
7.There is a statistically significant difference between university students of humanities & foreign specialties in types of psychological stresses and the difference was towards humanities specialities.8.Types of psychological stress can be predictable in university students through their scores of irrational idea.
