Abstract

Cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSMR) is defined as spinal cord dysfunction secondary to extrinsic compression of the cord or its vascular supply, In this work 60 patients diagnosed. The surgical treatment was performed by one of two methods half of patient were treated by discectomy or corpectomy (30) another group of patient were operated by laminectomy with and without fixation (30 patient) .
1. The patients operated by discectomy and corpectomy (30 cases), The percentage of excellent and good recovery was 83.3% and failure group 6.6%.
2. In patients operated by laminectomy (with and without fixation) 30 patients, The percentage of excellent and good recovery was 80% and failure group 6.6%.
So, in our work there is no significant difference in patients operated by the anterior approach and in patients operated by the posterior approach.
