Abstract The aim of this study is to assess the efficiency of some phenotypic & genotypic tests for rapid and convenient detection of MBLs among GNB isolates, also to determine the proportion of MBL producers among GNB isolates and their antibiotic susceptibility patterns. study was carried out in Mansoura University Hospitals between the period from March (2014) to March (2015) with collecting isolated gram negative bacilli from different clinical samples The isolated gram negative bacilli was identified by automated Microscan system and antibiotic susceptibility was determined for each isolate by micro minimal inhibitory concentrations for 23 antibiotics. The resistant isolates to imipenem and meperonem antibiotics were subjected for detection of metallo-beta-lactamse production by double antibiotic disc study. Positive isolates for phenotypic production of metallo-beta-lactamase were further studied for the presence of the three genes IMP, GIM and VIM by multiplex PCR. |
