Abstract This thesis has tried to discuss gender which was socially constructed to give certain roles to both sexes to perform.If males and females wanted to adapt to their social environment,they must conform to these socio-cultural roles put upon their shoulders.The researcher discussed gender in J.M.Coetzee’s Disgrace, Chinua Achebe’s Anthills of the Savannah and Sefi Atta’s Everything Good Will Come. She illustrated how the social environment played a role on broadening the gap between men and women by giving superiority to one sex over the other.This conclusion would be divided into four sections. First, it gave a brief summary of the thesis and its chapters.Second, it illustrated the researcher’s idea of replacing the socio-cultural codes of femininity and masculinity with new balanced codes.Then, the researcher would illustrate rape, punishment and childbearing in the three novels.Finally,the researcher would discuss voiced vs.voiceless women in the three novels. |
