Abstract

Background:
Social functioning includes the capacity of a person to function in different societal roles such as homemaker, worker, student, spouse, family member or friend.
Deficits in social functioning are a core feature of schizophrenia and can be observed in all phases of the disorder (Apiquian R. et al,2009) and are more marked compared to patients with affective or schizoaffective disorders(Mo¨ller HJ et al,2010).
Result:
The high level of social and personal functioning in schizophrenic patients were only found by 19 people (38%), while as many as 31 people were in low level (62%).
Conclusion:

Level of social and personal functioning with age (p = 0.005), gender (p = 0.006), employment status (p = 0.000), educational level (p = 0.000), duration of illness (p = 0.006), Marital state (p=0.000), Relapse number (p=0.000) and Family history (0.000).
There was a significant relationship between the level of social and personal functioning with PANSS items such as delusion (p=0.000)
, conceptual disorganization (p=0.000), hallucinatory behavior (p=0.000), blunted affect (p=0.000), social withdrawal (p=0.000), lack of spontaneity (p=0.000), mannerism and posturing (p=0.000) and unusual thought content (p=0.000).
