Abstract

Despite different techniques and modalities (routine coronary angiogram, stent boost) need to evaluate the stent deployment still unable to get the results the same as IVUS. In this study we were comparing the different modalities guided by expert opinion for evaluation of the stent deployment and to show the operator satisfaction about the results. In the study total numbers of patients were 27 patients with total number of 30 stents. Routine IVUS were done in all cases, while stent boost measurement and angiographic were taken. Then two experts assess the stents deployment according to angio and stent boost and comparing their results with IVUS according to preformed questionnaire. The stent boost results were closer to IVUS results regarding both experts opinion than angio results. The measures of stent boost were approaching the results of IVUS but still the IVUS has better results, stent boost has better results than QCA angiography in coorelation to IVUS results regarding stent expansion. Routine post stent dilatation was observed in 44 % of the cases where they were not in need for post stent balloon according to IVUS results. There was inter-observer variability regarding the assessment of the stent angiographically. Stent boost was nearer to IVUS in minimal stent diameter assessment but not in assessing inadequate stent expansion still more trials needed to clear that. IVUS was of help in all cases, and needed in all cases for proper assessment of stent implantation still stent boost was near to IVUS results, more trials needed to clear that.
