Abstract

This work carried out to study the effect of certain plants and their eaulized mix diet on amelionatiry the hyperchlosterolemia as well as hyperintoxication induced in male albino rats (180-200g intial weight).
Hypercholesterolemia induced by 3 weeks feeding on diet containing 1.5% cholesterol plus sheeptail fat, while hepatointoxication induced via injection with ccl4 for diluted with olive oil c2 ml/kg Bwt. Twice a week for 2 weeks. plants used were costus ( costus speciosus ) Branches argel (solonestemma argel)leaves emblica fruits (plyllanthes emblica ) which were extracted with distilled water and heating , then dried to obtain a powder ; the latter dissolved in distilled water and 1/ml of extract containing 400 mg powder kg B.wg / rat used during 28 days of experiment.Control and inflicted rats ( with hyperchlosterolemia or hyperintoxication ( were subjected to biological – bio – chemical and histopathological investigation , the results arrived at could be summarized as follows : -
hypercholesterolemia
1. BWG , FI and FER were diamatically changed due to hypercholesterolemia . Mean which all plants extracts ameliorated evidently these biological changes . Best FER recorded for the plants mix diet , showing( 96.977%) Increase in comparison with the control (+) group ; FER of mix diet group was even better then that of normal control (-) group, being (0.065± I0.01) and(0.053 ± 0.012) , and differnce was significant .
2. hypercholesterolemia ( control ” + ” group ) raised appreciably the internal organs weights ( kidney , liver heart, spleen and pancreas ) . on the contrary, all plants diets lowered the weight of internal organs . In particular the mix diet revealed maximum reduction of interna organs weights .
3. TC,TG and VLDL mean values were significantly increased by hypercholesterolemia , but declined where the diserved rats fed on plants diets . Best treatment was that of the mix diet , followed by that of emblica, costus and argel . Even in case of argel appreciable decreases of above mentioned paremeters rook place , being ,- 64.09,-52.14%&-52.14% in comparison with c ((+) group ; argel mean TG & VCDL indicated non significant differences compared to the best treatment (mix diet ).
4. Hypercholesterolemia reduced mean values of HDL, while raised that of the LDL,&AI. never the less plants diet reversed . such change , Best treatment was that fo the mix diet . Even for argel diet which showed least effect percent increase of HDL was 60% , and percent decrease of lDL&AI were 88.4% & 89.74% respectively indicating the percent desirable effect of argel diet .
5. Liver enzymes activities ( Ast , Alt& ALP) and AST/AIT ratio were raised by hypercholesterolemia, while feeding on costus , argel and emblia diets , as well as their mixture lowered such activities , in particular for he mix diet Argel which
revealed lowest decrease of activitie , was a prtent diet for decreasing ALT,ALT B ALP activities and AST / ALT percent decreases Compared to control(+) group were . pronounced, being (ــــ 54.87%, ـــــ 4.15%, ـــــ 32.47%ــــ 52.63%) respectively and AST & AST / AIT of this group showed 52.63% respectively and Ast & Ast / A/T of this group showed non-significant difference compared to the normal rats.
6. T.P and Alb reduced while Glb increased due to hyper chlesterolemia, while feeding on diets containing costus , argel , emblica extracts and their blend corrected these changes , provided that the best treatment was that recorded for the mix diet . All plants extracts including the argel diet reveaded pronounced desirable effects on the serum protein fractions.
7. Hypercholesterolemia raised the renal functions markers (urea – Creatinine & uric a cid ) in serum . while feeding on diets containing extracts of costus , argel , emblica and their blend reversed such changes . Best treatment was that of the mix diet argel diet which revealed least improvement of renal Function markers, showed pronounced reduction of urea ( -39.79% ), Creatinine ( -84.35% ) and uric acid ( -55.80%) in comparison with that of the control(-) groups, mean values of argel diet didn’t differ significance compared to control (-) healthy rats.
8. serum glucose significantly increased due to hyper cholesterolemia. Mean which its was reduced by feeding on diets containing costus , argel and emblica and their mixture , it was noticed that serum glucose recorded for these diets was even less than that of healthy control (-) rats.
9. Due to hypercholesterolemia antioxidant enzymes activities decreased ( GpX , Gsh , SoD , CAT ) while MDA was raised . when diseased rats fed on the costus , argel , emblice and their mix diets the reverse was found indicating the decrease of oxidation lowest improvements were noticed for argel extract diet , though this diet revealed mostly nonsignificant difference compared to control (-) group , indicating potent correcting of the oxidiation status.
B- Hepatointoxication:
10. Hepatointoxication effected the biological paramerter lowering BWG , FER. Due to feeding on the plants diet , In particular the mix diet FER was raised indicating nonsignificant difference in comparison with that recorded for control (-) rats Argel extract diet which showed lowest FER improvement , indicated considerable percent increase of this parameter compared to that of the control (+) group ( +80% ).
11. Tc , TG & VLDL were raised in serum due to Hepatointoxication, but were declined when rats fed on costus Branches, argel leaves , emblica fruits and specially the mix of plant extracts diets .
12. Hepatointoxication lowered the serum HDL while raised LDL & Ai– on the contrary feeding on plants extracts diets, specially the mix diet reversed these changes.
13. Argel extract diet which resulted in lower improvement of TC , TG , VLDL,HDL,LDL& Ai showed at the same time high acceptable percent of changes indicating potent desirable improvement of the liver function disturbance.
14. Due to hepatointoxication , liver function was disordered as indicated by the rise of AST , ALT ,AST/ ALT and ALP . This was reversed by feeding infficted rats with costus , argel , emblica extracts , and their mix diet . Best treatment recorded for the mix diet , indicating synergistic action when combining the three plant extracts .
15. Hepatointoxication lowered the levels of serum TP and AIb while raised the Glb function. The reverse was found when rats administrated with costus , argel , emblica extracts and in particular the mixture of all indicating a synergistic action . Argel extract which revealed lowest action , showed pronounced improvements of protein functions in serum
16. Injected rats with CCL4 suffered of renal function disorder due to rise in urea , creatinine and uric acid levels . mean while feeding of renopathic mixture of all improved appreciably such changes . The best treatment was that to the mix diet , indicating the synergistic action when combining extracts of three plants. Argel which showed the least effect proved to be of potent desirable effect as indicated by percent decreases of renal function makers compared to control (+) group , being( – 52.94 )for urea ,(- 50%) for creatinine &( -75.44%) for uric acid .
17. serum glucose was raised by hepatointoxication but decreased when the CCL4 injected rats fed on diets containing costus , argel , & emblica extracts , and specially the mix indiractions all synergistic action glucose of the best treatment was even less than that found for the normal group . Argel extract diet which was of numerically of higher glucose level among other plants extracts , recorded appreciable lowening of the level ( -57.32%) compared to control (+) group .
18. Antioxidant enzymes of serum ( GPX , GSH , SOD & CAT) reduced by hepatointoxication and MDA raised indicating oxidations status , feeding on costus , argel and emblica and specially their mixture extract reversed such changes indicating synergistic action SoD of the mix diet didn’t significantly differ in comparison with that of the normal rats . Argel extract diet which showed lowest correction of above parameters revealed considerable improvement , percent increased of GPX ,(+ 57%) (+50%),(-71%) respectively .
19. Deteriorations due to hepatointoxication was much greater than the Hypercholesterolemia, provided that both are at widely distributed in Egypt . Much More health care should be given to liver disease patients , Since it is the more dangerous ailmen
