Abstract Unit nurse managers play important and vital role for autonomous decision making for nurses working in the intensive care units. When this role is positive and effective will make nurses’ more feeling of empowerment, job satisfaction and low intent to leave. Autonomous decision making means nurse able to perform their job duties with freedom and commitment to ethical and legal measures application. Nurse whom had high autonomous decision making become experienced and more effective for nursing profession. The present research aimed to identify the unit nurse managers role for empowering staff nurses job autonomy. The study was conducted in the intensive care unit at Tanta Main University Hospital. All (160) staff nurses and all (26) head nurses included in the study. Data of the study was collected using two modified tools. Tool 1: Nurse manager role for empowering staff nurses’ job autonomy scale (consisted of 25 items). Tool 2: Nursing staff job autonomy scale, it was divided into 3 subscales: job empowerment, organizational relationship, and self autonomy. Pilot study was carried out on 10% of nurses’ sample. Questionnaire was submitted to six experts for testing its content and face validity. |
