Abstract The thesis is divided into three main parts:- Part I includes a general introduction about antibacterial agents their classification and their mode of action. Part II.A. includes an introduction to GFX. Part II.B: A stability indicating micellar liquid chromatographic method was developed and validated for the analysis of gemifloxacin in bulk powder and pharmaceutical preparations. Part II.C: A spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of gemifloxacin in bulk powder, pharmaceutical preparations and biological fluids through complexation with AlCl3 then measuring the fluorescence of the resulted complex after enhancement with sodium dodecyl sulphate in borate buffer (pH 8) at emission wavelength of 401 nm after excitation at 264 nm. Part II. D: A first derivative and ratio first derivative spectrophotometric technique for the determination of a newly FDA approved combination of gemifloxacin and azithromycin and extended for the determination of these drugs in laboratory prepared mixture and their laboratory prepared dosge form according to the medicinally recommended ratio of 1: 6.25. Part III.A. includes a simple introduction for gatifloxacin and two simple and sensitive methods for its determination. Part III.B includes spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric methods based on formation of binary complex with Eosin Y in acid medium. While Part III. C was based on analysis of mixture containing gatifloxacin and prednisolone acetate in their synthetic mixture and their combined preparation by micellar liquid chromatography. |
