Abstract Effect of seed priming with ascorbic and salicylic acids and spraying with silicon on drought tolerance of two Egyptian barley cultivars. The present work was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Desert and Environmental Agriculture, Fuka, Matrouh Governorate, Egypt. The Farm is located 212 km west of Alexandria (N= 31 0 04 ’, E= 27 0 54 ’), Northwest Coast Region during the two winter seasons 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. The main objective of the present study was to determine the effect of seed hydropriming and priming with ascorbic and salicylic acids and spraying with silicon on drought tolerance of two Egyptian barley cultivars.
