Abstract Laser emission from six neon like ions (Ni+18;Cu+19;Zn+20;Ga+21;Ge+22 and As+23) were studied intensively. The atomic properties of these ions were fully relativistically calculated. Energy levels from 1s22s22p5 to 1s22s22p5nl and 1s22s2p6 to 1s22s2p6nl where n = 3;4;5;6;7;8 and l = s; p;d; f ; _ _ _ . A 457 energy levels were determined with four possible transition types (E1;E2;M1 and M2). Electron impact excitations were calculated for all the levels by calculating the effective collision strengths using the distorted wave approximation. The highest gain transitions were determined. Population inversion, Doppler broadening were also calculated for these transitions. Short wavelength laser emissions were predicted with their calculated gain coefficients. |
