This study aimed to identify the role and status of international trade liberalization on the Iraq’s economy and showing its impact on the sustainable development, and the disclosure of the factors that hinder the process of sustainable development in Iraq, and then attempt to shed light on the sustainable development process in the Kurdistan Region, through this study there was a measuring of the impact of trade liberalization on sustainable development indicators represented in the (Gross domestic product at constant prices and the level of employment and average per capita emission of carbon dioxide) through the formulation of the immediate model were estimated using the method of least squares two-stage which is characterized by its ability to solve the autocorrelation problem and bias parameters. Among the results that have been reached that the open trade policy in Iraq has a negative impact on the GDP and the level of employment, while following the degree of trade openness positively on the ratio of the second dioxide emissions and comply with the reality of the situation in Iraq because the oil production has increased during the period of the study. As if all of the oil production and GDP have a positive impact on trade liberalization in Iraq during the period (2000-2014). Trade liberalization process also contributed to the growth of GDP and the development of education and health sectors in the Iraqi Kurdistan region. Despite these developments, however, the region suffers from a large challenge of structural imbalances and weak banking and financial services, corruption and poor public administration. This study has concluded that the need for the government to adopt economic projects to achieve progress, economic growth and enabling society to enjoy the fruits of that growth by looking at the growth perspective of basic human needs and improve the quality of life and human development.
