Abstract Diastolic dysfunction may complicate acute myocardial infarction and it could result in heart failure. There are significant limitations regarding the use of conventional echocardiography for evaluation of LV diastolic function. Assessment of the value and implications of pulsed wave tissue Doppler imaging (PW-TDI) for the evaluation of left ventricular diastolic function following acute myocardial infarction was the aim of the study. This study included 40 male patients presented with acute myocardial infarction (31 of them had STEMI, while 9 patients had NSTEMI) treated wither medically or by PCI. We have found that peak early diastolic mitral annular velocity correlated well with the LV ejection fraction however, the early diastolic mitral annular velocity did not correlate with the conventional Doppler diastolic parameters. The lower most values of early diastolic velocity are detected at the site of infarction. |
