Abstract

The last three decades have seen significant technological advances in voice rehabilitation of cases of cancer larynx, delivery of radiation as well as development of conservative surgical technique. This has allowed the focus to shift to organ preservation. Maintenance of quality of life and minimizing adverse effects is now considered an important therapeutic goal irrespective of the stage of disease and choice of treatment modality. organ preservation laryngeal surgery has been defined as a combination of procedures that remove a portion of larynx while maintaing the physiological functions of speech, swallowing and respiration without compromising local control and cure rates or the need for permanent trachestoma. Multiple techniques were described for removal of laryngeal tumors with preservation of laryngeal function like supracricoid laryngectomy, vertical hemilaryngectomy and laser cordectomy.
This prospective was carried on 40 patients 10 patients control group with normal voice, 10 patients with supracricoid laryngectomy, 10 patients with vertical hemilaryngectomy and 10 patients with laser cordectomy.
