Abstract

The liver is one of the most important organs owing a wide range of functions, including detoxification of various metabolites, protein synthesis, and the production of biochemical necessary for digestion. The crucial role of liver in maintaining human health status means that liver diseases can severely affect the health status and threaten human life. The study aimed to investigat the effect of some plant including artichoke, green coffee, red cabbage black mulberry and silymaren to treat liver disorders induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) on rats. The study was performed on a total of 48 male albino rats weighing 150±5 g. Rats were fed on normal (basal) ration and tab water. The animals were divided into 2 groups: , the first group (n= 4 rats) was fed on the basal diet only as a negative control (-) normal rats for 28 days. The rats of second main group (n= 44 rats) were injected s/c by Ccl4 to induce liver damage. Rats with liver intoxication were disparted into 11 groups as follow: group (2): was kept without any treatment as a positive control (+) group (rats=4) and fed on basal diet. group (3): rats (n=4) were injected by Ccl4 then fed on basal diet containing 2.5% silymaren. group (4): rats (n=4) were injected by Ccl4 then fed on basal diet containing 5% silymaren. group (5): rats (n=4) were injected by Ccl4 then fed on basal diet containing 2.5% green coffee group (6): rats (n=4) were injected by Ccl4 then fed on basal diet containing 5% green coffee. group (7): rats (n=4) were injected by Ccl4 then fed on basal diet containing 2.5% red cabbage. group (8): rats (n=4) were injected by Ccl4 then fed on basal diet containing 5% red cabbage. group (9): rats (n=4) were injected by Ccl4 then fed on basal diet containing 2.5%artichoke.
