Abstract

The present study was intended to compare the sustained virological response (SVR) between patients with HCC and cirrhotic patient after 12 weeks of end of receiving direct acting antiviral also to assess the the effect of DAAs on recurrence of HCC on previously treated paients.
The primary end points of the study is the percentage of patients who achieved an SVR after therapy and the assessment of recurrence rate in patients with HCC. The secondary end point is the safety of this all-oral regimen in those patients with HCC.
This observentional prospective study was conducted on 50 patients with HCV- induced cirrhosis (group I) and 50 patients with a curable HCC (group II) attending the outpatient clinic at the National Liver Institute, Menoufia University.
All patients were subjected to full history taking, Laboratory investigations including liver function tests, complete blood count, serum creatinine and AFP at baseline, after 4 , 12, 24 weeks of treatment and after 12 weeks of ending treatment. HCV viral load at base line, at week 4 of therapy, at week 12 of therapy, at the end of therapy and at 12 weeks from the end of therapy were measured for all subjects. Radiological examination including abdominal Triphasic computed tomography evaluated at baseline, after 12 weeks, 24 weeks and 12 weeks of ending antiviral treatment for HCC patients.
Statistical analysis of the epidemiological, demographic, laboratory, radiological data of our study had cleared the following:
The sustained virological response at 12 weeks in cirrhotic patients was (38/50) 78% and HCC group was (38/46) 82.6% with no significant difference between both groups (p value=0.6).
