Abstract
Also the compliance in theater with the individual components of the bundle was measured. Betadine for skin preparation had 100% compliance in (group 1). Timing of prophylactic antibiotic increased from 0% initially to 63% at the last measurement. Temperature, glucose level during the operation had a relative high compliance during the study period which increased from 70% to 85% and from 75% to 88% respectively.
According to CDC, additional elements as Keeping OR doors closed during surgery increased from 20% initially to 63% at the last measurement during the entire study period which is statistically significant. Redosing of prophylactic antibiotics with short half-lives intraoperatively if operation is prolonged (for cefazolin if operation is >3 h) or redosing if the procedure exceeds 2 half-lives of the drug increased from 75% to 85%. Also adjustment of the antimicrobial prophylaxis dose for obese patients (body mass index >30) had a relative high compliance in (group 1). They increased from 70% in (group 1) to 85% in (group 2) at the last measurement which is statistically significant.
