Abstract

This thesis suggests two controllers for PMSM in order to overcome its inherent problems of nonlinearity, complexity, coupling, parameters variation, load variation and noises. These controllers had been exposed to disturbances such as parameters variation, load change and speed reference change to explore its efficiency and robustness. Results of the suggested controllers are compared with previous controllers at the same conditions. This thesis consists of five chapters. These chapters are summarized as follows:Chapter I: Includes an introduction to PMSM, fields of operation of PMSM, advantages and disadvantages of PMSM. Construction and mathematical notation of PMSM are also introduced. Finally, variable structure control, fuzzy control and statement of the problem are presented.Chapter II: Reviews related works for controlling the PMSM model.Chapter III: Presents the dynamic mathematical model of PMSM. The methodology of solution and decoupling technique are also discussed. Finally, suggested adaptive control and fuzzy-adaptive control techniques are applied to PMSM.Chapter IV: Shows simulation results of applying both suggested controllers to the PMSM at different conditions of operation. Finally, comparative study with previous related papers are presented.Chapter V: Presents conclusions and future work.
