Abstract

The present investigation was carried out in a private apiary located at El- Mahalla El- Kubra district, Gharbia Governorate to study effect of climatic conditions on some honey bee activities according to hives position on two level, in lower hives ( located on the floor ) and in upper hives ( located on the forth, 12 meter height ). Ten colonies of honey bee ( Apis mellifera L.) Carniolan hybrid were chosen, each headed by a mated queen of similar age. These colonies classified in two groups, the first five colonies were located on the floor and the second five colonies were located on the fourth floor. Some honey bee activities (worker brood, stored pollen, stored honey and bee numbers) were measured in both groups under temperature and relative humidity conditions. The results showed that :- • Brood rearing activity in upper colonies was more active than in lower colonies throughout different seasons. •Amounts of stored pollen in a whole year in upper colonies were more than in lower colonies. • Bee density in upper colonies was more increase than in lower colonies in a whole year. •Amounts of stored honey in upper colonies were more than in lower colonies in a whole year. •In relation to temperature, it was found positive high correlation between temperature and both stored pollen and bee density in upper and lower colonies in a whole year. •In relation to relative humidity, it was found negative high correlation between relative humidity and brood, while it was found negative low correlation between relative humidity and bee density in lower colonies.
