Abstract An experiment was carried out in the Nursery and Laboratory of Floriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Minia Univ. during the two successive seasons of 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 to investigate the effect of plant spacing and active yeast, as well as, some vitamins treatments on the vegetative growth traits, essential oil yield and chemical composition of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum, L.) plants. In this regard, two factors were examined, the main plot (A) was plant spacing (25, 35, 45 and 55 cm between hills), while, the sub plot (B) was vit. B1 (50 ppm), vit. C (50 ppm), vit. E (10 ppm), vit. B1 + vit. C + vit. E (50, 50 and 10 ppm, respectively), active yeast (5 g/l.) and control. Also, the interaction between main and sub plots (A×B) was tested. It is recommended to cultivated sweet basil plants at 25 distance and sprayed with active yeast or collection of vitamins (vit. B1 + vit. C + vit. E) under the same experiential conditions or similar conditions to obtain the highest yield of herb and essential oil/fed. |
