Abstract

This research aims to study the methods of preparation of metal sulfides nano-structure effect of silica medium porosity and the effect of the presence of polymer poly vinyl alcohol during the preparation and characterization of the prepared metal sulfides and study the effect of the presence metal sulfides as catalysts during the degradation of some dyes as Rhodamine B under the influence of visible light or UV.First: The first chapter is introduced the simple removal of environmental pollutants and the use of metal sulfides as a photocatalyst; also addressed the overall objectives of the study in addition to a review of previous studies, which included how to prepare different sulfides and the effect of the presence of support or the presence of polymers during the preparation and the effect of that on the degradation of different dyes.Second: The second chapter detailed explanation of methods for preparation of bismuth and cadmium sulfides composite in different proportions of cadmium sulfide ranging from 3% to 9% and the effect of the presence of silica medium porosity (MCM-41 at different rates from 1%: 15%) and preparation of Bismuth and Cadmium sulfides in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol as well as a brief description of the devices and methods used to characterize them.Third: the third chapter characterization and study of the structural properties of the prepared composites using X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Transmission electron microscope (TEM) as well as the infrared spectrum (IR) and also UV-Vis DRS and this chapter explains the detailed results of the analysis conducted for the characterization of bismuth and cadmium sulfides on these devices. It also dealt with a clear explanation and detailed all the results obtained from the study of photo-catalytic degradation under the influence of light to purify water contaminated with dyes such as RHodamine B by using composite of bismuth and cadmium sulfides and composites prepared in the presence of silica medium porosity (MCM-41) and well prepared in the presence of polymer poly vinyl alcohol under the influence of visible light and ultraviolet radiation. The results has been shown that the use of visible light is the appropriate way to use these composites in degradation of Rhodamine B and these economic way enables us to use sunlight to degrade different pollutants.
