Abstract This study was conducted to outline the histopathological and histochemical changes in the testis after the administration of tramadol and the possible protective role of pumpkin seed extract (PSE) and pomegranate seed extract (PgSE) Seventy-two healthy male rats were divided according to age into two main groups: 36 rats three weeks old (adolescent) and 36 rats six weeks old (adults) each main group was divided into six equal groups; control group; PSE treated group; PgSE treated group; Tramadol treated group received oral starting dose from 20 mg/kg b.wt./day for 1st week and 40, 80 mg/kg for 2nd, 3rd week respectively; (protected groups) received both tramadol (at the same previous dose) and an oral dose of PSE and PgSE at 40 mg/kg b.wt./day. At the end of the experiment (3 weeks), testicular tissue samples were processed for histopathological and histochemical examination. |
