Abstract This prospective observational study aimed at evaluation of cases of neonatal jaundice as regards number, causes, management and outcome. This study had been carried out in NICU at Minia Maternity and Children’s University Hospital over a period of six months and was conducted on 216 full term neonates. Data collected included history taking, clinical examination, routine lab investigations and lab testing for jaundice (Total and direct serum bilirubin levels, complete blood count, reticulocytic count, c- reactive protein, blood group of mother and baby and G6PD enzyme level assay). Different modes of therapy were recorded and outcome of patients also assessed. |
