Abstract
Imines are condensation products of primary amines and carbonyl (ketone or aldehyde) compounds. They were discovered by a German chemist, Nobel Prize winner, Hugo Schiff in 1864. Imine ligands are excellent coordinating ligands. Their importance is due to from stable complexes easily with a variety of metal ions.
