Abstract The reaction of four potato cultivars i.e., Cara, Draga, Solana and Spunta to M. incognita infection by certain plant growth. characters, rate of nematode reproduction and development was determined and recorded under greenhouse conditions (20±3°C).Results indicated that all tested criteria were remarkably diminished by M. incognita infection to various degrees, of the potato cultivars tested, Spunta achieved the highest percentage of reduction values of plant length (97.6%), total plant fresh weight (75.5%), shoot dry weight (78.5%), number of tuber (88.9%), fresh weight of tuber /plant (96.7%), number of leaves/plant (94.4%) and number of stolen/plant (89.6%), respectively, followed by, Draga cultivar in certain plant growth parameters and these of Cara cultivar and then those of Solana cultivar comparing to the uninoculated ones. Due to the relationship between root gall index (RGI) and reproduction factor (RF), Cara and Draga cultivars were rated as moderately resistant, since their root gall indices are equal 2 plus RF values of 0.47 and 0.76 respectively. Whilst, Solana cultivar was classified as tolerant host with root gall index value of 2 and RF1.3. On the other hand, Spunta was considered as a susceptible host, since its root gall index value was 4 with RF1.98, respectively. |
