Abstract

Diffusion-weighted Imaging (DWI) is a non-invasive method that can provide a microstructural studying of tissue by in-vivo mapping of diffusion processes. Clinically, diffusion sequence used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to study and diagnose any neurological disorders like a stroke. Echo Planar Imaging (EPI) is the pulse sequence used to collect data necessary for DWI, where signals depend on water diffusion. this sequence suffers from many artifacts, the worst is geometric distortion artifact and blurring due to signal lose. The aim of this study was to decrease geometric distortion artifact and increase resolution in DWI of the brain by modulating physical parameters of the DW-sequence by using different MR techniques such as ramp sampling, parallel imaging and dual spin echo. For obtaining a more accurate geometrical representation of the studied anatomy and improving the diagnosis of brain infraction.
