Abstract This is a prospective randomised comparative study between microperc and retrograde intra renal surgery in management of lower calyx stones less than 1.5 centimeters. The study was conducted in MPUH, India. Each study arm included 40 patients. The patients were evaluated pre-, intra-, and post- operatively. The results were analysed accordingly. The stone characteristics, stone free rate, complication rate and post operative stay were comparable in both groups. Operative time and DJ insertion rate were significantly different in favor of RIRS. Haemoglobin DROP and postoperative pain score were significantly different in favor of microperc. Our results were compared to the available literature and we concluded that both microperc and RIRS are valid options for management of small lower calyx stones. |
