Abstract Although e-commerce has grown in recent years around the world, but there are obstacles still hamper its proliferation. This is due to the distrust in its use because of cyber crime. Cyber crime has a negative impact on e-commerce not only because of the heavy losses incurred by companies but also because of the loss of confidence of users of e-commerce in their use, either because of being victims of cyber crime or because of their fear to be cyber crime victim. In this study, we proposed a model that tests a set of hypotheses that examine the impact of user’s falling as a cyber crime victim and user’s fear of cyber crime on user’s trust of e-commerce and Internet, and also examines the impact of user’s trust of e-commerce and user’s trust of the Internet on using e-commerce. Finally, examines the impact of cyber crime on using e-commerce with the trust as a mediator. The results of the study proved the negative impact of both user’s falling as a cyber crime victim and user’s fear of cyber crime on user’s trust of e-commerce and Internet. As well as, the positive impact of user’s trust of e-commerce and user’s trust of the Internet on using e-commerce. Finally, the results of the study proved the negative impact of cyber crime on e-commerce, with the trust as a mediator. The results of the study also proved the validity of the proposed model and also proved the desire to use e-commerce, but fear of cyber crime prevents its use. |
