Abstract

The wide variety of NMDs that compromise the respiratory function can be classified according to the clinical onset of acute respiratory failure (ARF) into two main categories: 1) slowly progressive NMD with acute exacerbations of chronic respiratory failure and 2) rapidly progressive NMD with acute episodes of respiratory failure
For any reason, access to the intensive care unit is due to weakness of the respiratory muscles and / or difficulty swallowing and abrasion with the introduction of secretions or food into the lungs for cardiac and rheumatic resuscitation.
Continuous evaluation of patients with neuropathy who are exposed to respiratory complications is considered an effective method of detracting from these individuals at risk
This approach in evaluating the respiratory system confirming the assessment of swallowing, coughing, and ventilation function is beneficial for the physician’s respiratory evaluation in patients with neurodegenerative or muscular impairment
This should focus on four elements:
1. Determine the severity of weakness
2 involvement of the muscles (swallowing)
3. Involvement of respiratory muscles
4. Determine the cause and appropriate treatment
.
Over the past 10 to 15 years of new technologies for the Positive Ventilation Pressure (NIPPV), coupled with a significant increase in overall medical treatment expectations, has led to a significant increase in numbers of patients worldwide who are on long term ventilation for neurological and muscular diseases.
The aim of this course is to review our current understanding of the development of respiratory failure in the nervous system, assessment of respiratory function, and ventilation indicators. Respiratory support technique and their role in treatment or ease of symptoms and the speed of morbidity and discuss various neurological and muscular disorders. the current situation with regard to immunotherapy and rehabilitation in the treatment of neurological and muscular diseases.
