Abstract Our current study for comparison between the povidon Iodine 10% and clotrimazol 1% in the treatment of otomycosis; we selected 100 patients (from different ages % both sex suffering from unilateral or Bilateral otomycosis. Patients with chronic suppurative otitis media, immunocopromised or has an abnormal external ear anatomy and also patients with chronic systemic disease [D.M, chronic liver, chronic renal disease] excluded. 50 cases were treated by clotrimazol 1% and the other 50 were treated by Povidon 10%. Our result showed that no significant difference between patient treated by 1% clotrimazole and patient treated by 10% povidone iodine as regard symptoms and signs resolution [P value > 0.05]. Recurrence of otomycosis between studied group was 5%. No significant difference between patients treated by 1% clotrimazole and patients treated by 10% povidone iodine as regard recurrence of infection. This study support the use of povidon iodine as a cheaper and effective alternative in the treatment of otomycosis. |
