Abstract Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a hematological cancer characterized by the rapid expansion of immature myeloid precursors in the bone marrow and blood with concurrent depletion of effective heamatopoiesis It could be considered as a heterogeneous disease characterized by different recurrent cytogenetic aberrations that provide the most important prognostic information at diagnosis. Many chinical features are associated with a poor outcome include advanced age, high leukocyte count, extramedullary mass and a history of proceeding hematological disorders such as myelodysplastic syndrome. |
