Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing (CC) are two of the most important trends in information and communication technology that attract the attention of many researchers in recent years. Most of the recent researches are focused on each of them separately to solve some of their problems. A new trend is raised from integrating both trends called Cloud of Things (CoT) to benefit each one of the advantages of the other. Mashup is also a very important trend, which means how to get a new service by composing the existing services. Several researches had been targeting the integration of IoT and CC from different points of views such as a security aspect. In this thesis, we focus on integrating IoT with cloud computing because of the benefits that IoT can gained from unlimited storage and unlimited processing capabilities provided by cloud computing. As well as, we focus on how to improve the mashup process using CoT paradigm by allowing new IoT application to be developed by mashing up the existing applications to reduce the time of deployment. Firstly, we propose a CoT architecture that supports Things as a Service (TaaS) and IoT Mashup as a service (MaaS) in addition to the known cloud computing services (Software as a service, Platform as a service, and Infrastructure as a service). Secondly, we develop an automatic, and multiple-source IoT Mashup Algorithm (IoTMA) for IoT application development that can be accessed by MaaS as an on-demand service to obtain the optimal solution in less response by composing existing things services and web services without needing of high experience in programming. We also evaluate the proposed IoTMA using different factors discussed later and the experimental results prove that our algorithm is robust and outperforms some other recent related research work in terms of the mashup response time.
