Abstract The aim of the present study is to assess thyroid function in women Evaluation of prevalence of sub-clinical hypothyroidism among females with pregnancies complicated with spontaneous miscarriages, preeclampsia, gestational hypertension and preterm deliveries higher than normal pregnancies or not in women attending our tertiary hospital. Pregnant Women with high risk pregnancy (e.g. preeclampsia ,gestational hypertension ,recurrent miscarriage, gestational diabetes , preterm deliveries) were recruited from the antenatal and fetomaternal clinics at Minia Maternity & children university hospital compared to a randomly sample from the antenatal clinics attending the same hospital. Written informed consent were obtained from each participant. This study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of sub-clinical hypothyroidism among high risk pregnant women attending the outpatient clinics of Minia Maternity University Hospital during period between December 2014 till December 2016.They were approximately about 480 cases, 280 cases of high risk group patient who were admitted to the hospital , and 200 cases of control group who attended to the outpatient clinic for antenatal care in gestational age between 10-13 weeks and 24 week and 34 week. Complete history taking and clinical examination were done for all cases Blood samples for CBC, liver function(SGOT, SGPT), kidney function (Blood Urea, Serum Creatinine) Serum Uric acid, Albumin in urine, fT4, fT3 and TSH were taken. |
