Abstract

The construction industry uses natural resources. Searching for alternative
resources such as recycled waste, construction materials become a need. The use of recycled coarse Aggregate from construction and demolition waste (C and DW) reduces the negative effects on the environment and provides large
economic returns for converting this waste into valuable materials. The concrete cast using recycled coarse Aggregate from construction and demolition wastes (C and DW) as a structural concrete is considered as an alternative to conventional concrete. That type of concrete is called recycled aggregate concrete. But recycled coarse Aggregate has a great absorption of water.
Therefore, recycled aggregate concrete need more amounts of water for mixing
and curing. So, the use of a type of concrete does not need conventional curing such as self-curing concrete may recommended. The combination of these types with high compressive strength is called Self-curing high strength concrete cast using recycled aggregate.
In this research, the experimental program is divided into two parts. The first considers the main mechanical properties with recycled aggregate type and super plasticizer dosage as variables. The second part is conducted to obtain the most optimum dosage of curing agent to obtain self-curing high-strength concrete cast using recycled aggregate. The fresh properties are discussed in terms of slump values. The hardened concrete properties are discussed in terms of compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, and bond strength. It was found that using super plasticizer SP enhances the main fresh and hardened properties of self-curing high strength concrete cast using recycled aggregate.
Also, using PEG as a chemical curing agent increases the strength compared to
conventional concrete without curing.
Based on this study, it can obtain self-curing high-strength recycled
aggregate concrete using a suitable dosage of curing agent.
