Abstract The present work was carried out to study the efficacy of amoxicillin (25 mg/kg b.wt) and/or kitasamycin (10 mg/kg b.wt) against experimentally Clostridium perferenges infected chickens. Another goal was to study side effects that could be reflected on haematological picture as well as liver and kidney functions. This experiment was done on one hundred and sixty apparently healthy broiler chickens weighing between 320 -335 gm average body weight, classified into 8 equal groups (20 broiler chickens each). group 1 Non infected non treated broiler chickens (-ve control). group 2 Non infected broiler chickens treated with amoxicillin (25 mg/kg. b.wt) orally for 5 successive days group 3 Non infected broiler chickens treated with kitasamycin (10 mg/kg b.wt) orally for 5 successive days group 4 Non-infected broiler chickens treated with amoxicillin (25 mg/kg. b.wt) and kitasamycin (10 mg/kg b.wt) orally for 5 successive days. group 5 Infected broiler chickens with Clostridium perferenges non treated. group 6 Infected broiler chickens with Clostridium perferenges treated with amoxicillin (25 mg/kg. b.wt) orally for 5 successive days. group 7 Infected broiler chickens with Clostridium perferenges treated with kitasamycin (10 mg/kg. b.wt) orally for 5 successive days. group 8 Infected broiler chickens with Clostridium perferenges treated with amoxicillin (25 mg/kg. b.wt) and kitasamycin (10 mg/kg b.wt) orally for 5 successive days. Blood samples were taken on 1st, 7th and 14thday post treatment. Five broilers from each group were sacrificed for collection of blood samples First blood samples were collected in test tubes containing EDTA as anticoagulant for hematological study. |
